Technology Intern

Responsibilities:
RocketSpace, a large technology accelerator in San Francisco has a unique opportunity for a motivated intern. Having recently been rewarded as one of the Top 50 most engaged workplaces in America, we are experiencing rapid growth. Centered in the heart of the SF tech district, RocketSpace houses some of the best and brightest technology companies from within Silicon Valley. Focusing on seed funded, post incubator (Ycombinator, Kicklabs, 500Startups, AngelPad) companies who are in the rapid growth phase. Within 9 months of opening, RocketSpace has grown to over 400 people represented by over 95 companies. These companies are all in the process of hiring great talents, raising millions of dollars, growing to be strong and profitable.

RocketSpace is in search of a technology intern to join our active and dynamic team with the possibility of graduation to a permanent position. This incumbent will be tasked with providing daily support to the guests of RocketSpace and escalating issues within the organization as appropriate.

Qualifications:
Must have:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An excellent attitude towards customer service
- The ability to handle negative situations in a positive light

- A reasonably accessible sense of humor
- An insatiable desire to improve services, systems and self
Should have experience with:
- Ethernet and TCP/IP networking
- Connectivity troubleshooting and diagnosis
- Task management, prioritization and escalation
- SSH / RS323 / console based device management
- 802.11(a/b/g/n) wireless networking
- Documentation and process authoring
Should be familiar with:
- Physical switch, rack and cable management
- Windows, OS X and *nix based operating systems
- NAT translation and simple IPv4 firewalling
- Various IP protocols (HTTP(S), DNS, ssh / ssl, lpr etc)
- VoIP telephony concepts (SIP, SDP, RTP, Skinny)
Will help to be familiar with:
- Terminating CAT5/5e/6/6a cabling
- RADIUS, LDAP, RDBMS, Kerberos, SNMP
- OpenNMS (Or similar monitoring platform)
- *BSD based operating systems
- VLAN's and basic IP routing
- IP QoS / bandwidth management
- Network metrics and monitoring
- tcpdump / Wireshark / Netflow / IPFIX / PCAP analysis
- Device level redundancy (VRRP / MCT)
- IPv6 concepts and currency
