To Whom It May Concern:
I am a recent graduate of Loyola University and a social media aficionado. After receiving a degree in Communication Studies, I have a burning desire to work in the ever-evolving field of marketing, pr, and social media. As my work experience shows, I am a creative, diligent, self-starter and am excited to learn more about the open position within your company.
Like many of my peers, social media is a staple in my daily routine. Not only has the Internet improved interpersonal relationships, but it has also created a new approach to establishing brand images and relationships with customers. In school, I had the opportunity to utilize these tools when marketing my own “brand” to potential customers. As host and creator of “The Awkward Hour” on 88.7 WLUW radio, it was essential to the show’s success that I marketed it appropriately towards its audience: college students and comedy nerds. This was made possible through print and Facebook advertising, Twitter feeds, and a self-managed website that continues to draw in viewers due to the successful use of SEO keywords. These approaches made the show an interactive experience - allowing fans to communicate with me directly, suggest questions to be answered on air by Chicago’s top comedians, and to download or stream shows post-airing. As a featured blogger for the Loyola Phoenix, I generated unique online content that served as an extension of the paper’s brand image and ultimately broadened the Phoenix’s readership. Meanwhile, I oversaw marketing for Loyola’s social justice magazine, The Mosaic, as the publication’s social media administrator. Both of these positions required me to master Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and similar means of communication to inform the student body, cultivate interest in these publications, and procure a larger audience. In addition, my current position as a shift manager at Argo Tea gives me experience reviewing sales numbers and working with the community to deliver special offers and events that increase sales. In my personal life, I’m always connected – using the aforementioned media outlets to express myself, gain information, and learn about new offers and products that my favorite brands are promoting.
Needless to say, I have had a lot of success in my endeavors due to my motivated attitude and ability to adapt with the changing technological world. I believe that my strong work ethic and understanding of how to best utilize social media makes me an ideal candidate and a perfect fit for your team. I have included my resume for further review, but can be contacted at any time at (440)867-1982 or via email at abigailnamestnik@gmail.com. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Abbie Namestnik
